Role of an Accountant in Society :
An accountant has an important role to play even in the society. His role in the society is as follows :
(a) He has to educate the different sections of the society, even petty traders and farmers, the importance of maintaining accounts for their activities.
(b) He should design and develop new and simple ways of maintaining accounts for the different sections of the society.
(c) He should emphasise the importance of maintaining true and proper accounts.
(d) He has to educate the public the importance of complying with tax laws and paying taxes regularly and in time.
(e) He can advise the people about tax planning and avoidance of tax. However, he should not be party to evasion of tax by the public.
(f) He can even advise the people about the importance of savings and investment. He can advise the people about the right and profitable investment and thereby contribute to saving and investment by the society.
